The 8-bit Controller seeks to expose the complexity of modern computation by representing binary logic in simple terms. Binary logic is used internally by virtually all modern computers and is thus a concept worth understanding. Using eight light switches, users are given the potential of creating 255 distinct tones, nearly three times the number of the traditional piano, while occupying a mere eleventh of the space!
The 8-bit Controller has three states; Tone, Rhythm and MIDI. The Tone setting generates up to 255 distinct tones, allowing nimble users to use the controller as a melodic instrument. The Rhythm setting mimics the functionality of a digital metronome, and the MIDI setting allows users to interface with any MIDI-enabled device.
